Canes Will Try to Cool Off Red Hot Stars
The Hurricanes will be looking to beat the Panthers for the sixth time in seven meetings when the two teams battle at the American Airlines Center on Monday night. Carolina resides in first place in the Central Division with 68 points. The Dallas Stars are currently in fifth place with 49 points.
Carolina is playing quite well themselves right now, posting a 6-1-3 record in its last 10 contests and winning eight of their last 11 on the road. The Stars are also playing excellent hockey right now, winning seven of their previous 10. Keep in mind that Dallas needed 52 shots on goal just to defeat Jonathan Bernier and the Red Wings 2-1 in overtime on Saturday night.
#DALvsDET: Score 2-1, Shots 52-17, Shot Attempts 85-32, Hits 16-15 @DallasStars; Most letdown goalie of the season @DetroitRedWings

Oddsmakers have seen a whopping 88% of the money go towards the Dallas Stars side in the early going, but the reality is this has been a one-sided series this season. Carolina has won five of the six meetings including both away battles in Dallas — those of two games combined for 15 goals scored.
However, the last two meetings might be more of a blueprint of how things may go. Dallas and Carolina played the last miniseries a bit closer to the vest. Dallas was able to steal the front end of the back-to-back by a 3-2 score. Then, Carolina countered by playing a low-scoring slugfest the next night. The Hurricanes shut out the Stars 1-0 and left Rick Bowness’ Stars scratching their heads.
This game will have the feel of playoff hockey as one team tries to win the Central Division and the other is battling just to play in the second season. Carolina’s balance helps us out on Monday night. Take the moneyline one more time.
Pick: Carolina Hurricanes ML (-122)

Panthers and Predators Expect To See Lots of Shots
Nashville will look to hold serve against a tough opponent when they entertain the Florida Panthers at Bridgestone Arena on Monday. The Panthers have played better again of late winning five of their previous seven games. They have allowed just 18 goals in that span.
Nashville has everything to play for as they currently hold the fourth and final playoff spot in the Central Division. The Predators have gone 6-3-1 in their last 10 games while yielding a respectable 25 goals. Juuse Saros is one of the main reasons for this surge as he has a 15-4-1 record in his previous 20 decisions. That includes allowing just 34 goals in this run which have boosted his Vezina Trophy odds.

The Panthers are expected to play well in Nashville again as they did last month. Florida swept the miniseries versus the Predators as they won 6-2 and 5-4 respectively. Florida fires an average of 34.1 shots per game on goalies (2nd in the NHL). Nashville can take solace in the fact that Florida can let down a bit as they yielded 70 shots in two games to the Columbus Blue Jackets last week.
During the last miniseries, which was a split in Florida, Florida fired 90 shots on Saros in two contests. Nashville is more than capable of scoring goals in this game, but Florida’s offense along with Nashville’s 28th ranked penalty kill (75.8%) may be their undoing. Take the Florida Panthers and the moneyline on Monday night.
Pick: Florida Panthers ML (-130)
