Best bets from Belmont Park on Friday

Nick Shiambouros struck again when After Five won at Belmont Park. Nick returns to the New York track with two more selections…

Brazillionaire to grab cash

Race 4 19:31 Belmont Park – Brazillionaire

I am going to take a chance with Brazillionaire in this interesting allowance race on the inner turf.

This colt finished second to Blue Lou Boyle over this course earlier this month. He looked the likely winner inside the final furlong, but ran out of petrol and was caught close home. This was a solid first effort for new trainer Linda Rice, who wisely drops him to six furlongs. Rice has engaged the services of Irad Ortiz who is a brilliant judge of pace. He should be a fair price so BSP is recommended.

Carom ready to roll

Race 6 20:34 Belmont Park – Carom

Carom should run well at a fair price in this $50k claimer on the Widener turf.

This gelding finished fourth to Set Piece in a $62.5k optional claimer at Churchill Downs last June. He held every chance a furlong from home, but weakened quickly when the chips were down. He makes his debut for trainer Saffie Joseph, who drops him in class after the long layoff. He put in a super piece of work over the course 13 days ago and looks ready to do himself justice. The fast work is typical for Joseph, who always has his horses fit and ready to go. BSP is recommended.
