Best bets from Belmont Park on Thursday

Nick Shiambouros struck again when Oso Prieto won at Will Rogers Downs. Nick Heads to Belmont Park with two selections from the Wednesday card…

After Five ready

Race 6 22:43 Belmont Park – After Five

After Five should open his account in this Maiden Special Weight on the inner turf.

This colt finished third to Modesto in a similar event at Keeneland last month. He made a strong move at the entrance to the straight, but did not have enough pace to deliver a challenge. He has some rock solid form in the book, including a fifth place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint last November. Anything around 3.02/1 will do.

Malibu Curl to shine

Race 7 23:15 Belmont Park – Malibu Curl

Malibu Curl is taken to upset short priced favourite Always Carina in this $80k optional claimer on the main track.

This well related filly was last seen in the Grade 2 Demoiselle at Aqueduct last December, finishing third to Oaks winner Malathaat. She had a chance a furlong from home, but was left standing by the brilliant winner. Trainer Tom Albertrani has not had a winner at the meeting, but his horses are running well. Her work tab is solid, and should be more forwardly placed with jockey Luis Saez in the saddle. This is a competitive race so BSP is recommended.
