Nick Shiambouros is back with two selections from the Thursday meeting at Belmont Park…
Bean Counter to make amends
Race 9 22:20 Belmont Park – Bean Counter
Bean Counter should run well at a decent price in this interesting allowance race on the inner turf.
This filly finished a close third to So Gracious in a similar race at Saratoga last month. She made up a ton of ground in the closing stages and was gaining on the winner close home. I feel she was given too much to do and was a little unlucky. Top rider Jose Ortiz has the riding assignment and should bring about an improved effort over this longer trip. BSP is the way to go.
Panster the big improver
Race 10 22:52 Belmont Park – Panster
Panster should go close in this Maiden Special Weight on the Widener turf course.
This colt finished fourth to Half Right on debut in a Maiden Special weight on the main track, that was scheduled for the turf at Saratoga in August. He made his move in the straight and ran on well without troubling the winner. He has been working well ahead of this assignment and put in a bullet work a week ago. Trainer Christophe Clement is having a cracking meeting with 10 winners and a 33% strike rate. Significant improvement is expected and recommend backing him at BSP.
