Braekhus vs McCaskill Main Card Odds
Odds taken August 12.
Cecilia Braekhus’ Path to Immortality
Braekhus has held the distinction of being the undisputed welterweight champion for the last six years. With one more defense, she will break a record that has stood for over seventy years. Joe Louis’ record for most consecutive defenses of a world title (25) would be broken if Braekhus gets by the challenge of McCaskill.
Braekhus first held gold in March 2009, which is close to six and a half years before McCaskill made her pro debut.
The reason the line for this fight is relatively close (as far as boxing goes) speaks volumes to how good it is. Braekhus is as close to a flawless boxer as we have on the scene but McCaskill is elite in her own right.

Oklahoma get ready… History of a 27th successful defence over 37 months, to smash Joe Louis’ record of 26 over 40 months is the goal. @1LadyCecilia @MatchroomBoxing #WorldRecord #QuickestTime pic.twitter.com/0w8LQUO8TC

Jessica McCaskill’s Sweet Science Resume
McCaskill is coming into this one with ironclad confidence that belies the fact she is the underdog. She’s been calling for a KO victory and thinks that a stoppage win will be her path to championship glory. McCaskill is the unified super lightweight champion. This illustrates the pound-for=pound importance of this blockbuster bout.
The only losses McCaskill has suffered as a pro are via controversial split decision in her second pro bout and a December 2017 title bid at lightweight against pound-for-pound -phenom Katie Taylor.

McCaskill has put together a three-fight win streak since the aforementioned Taylor loss and has carved out her path as a reputable world champion. The winner of this bout would be positioned against the winner of Katie Taylor vs Delfine Persoon which is a rematch set for August 22nd.

As much as there’s parity in this prizefight, it’s hard for me to go against Braekhus. I see Braekhus using a well-rounded skillset to put on a performance where she secures the unanimous decision win. Her KO-rate (25 percent) does not lead me to believe that she’ll get the stoppage but I see a thorough performance from the champion all the same.
Pick: Cecilia Braekhus (-509)
Other Main Card Picks for Braekhus vs McCaskill
- Eric Walker vs Israil Madrimov: Walker has been the WBC continental americas champion, sports twenty wins opposite two defeats, and unfortunately I still don’t think it will be enough on Saturday. Madrimov has a one hundred percent stoppage rate with five finishes across five pro wins. I see Madrimov continuing the KO streak and securing the stoppage inside of six rounds. Pick: Israil Madrimov (-10000)
