Hockey’s oldest showdown highlights the Saturday, February 13th NHL odds.
Is there anything better on ice than a Saturday night game featuring the Toronto Maple Leafs battling against the Montreal Canadiens? That’s among 10 games on the slate, as these two age-old rivals, who played their first NHL game against each other on Dec. 26th, 1917, meet at the Scotiabank Center.
Perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising that Jets soar above Senators. That’s clearly been the case when the Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets clash.
As busy as the NHL is Saturday, things could’ve been much busier. Three games – the Washington Capitals-Buffalo Sabres, New Jersey Devils-Philadelphia Flyers, and Los Angeles Kings-Minnesota Wild – are postponed due to the league’s COVID-19 protocols.

Are The Leafs Figuring It Out?
There are subtle signs that this season might turn out differently for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The club has enjoyed solid regular seasons for a few years in a row, relying on a potent attack, but haven’t made any headway in the playoffs.
In back-to-back wins against Vancouver and Montreal, the Leafs are displaying an ability to win a game without the high-tempo flash and dash. There’s an old theory that teams must learn the method of finding ways to win games where there’s not much going on. That’s certainly been the case with Toronto’s last two victories.
The Canadiens have lost three of their past four games. Montreal has scored six goals in those games and were shutout 3-0 by Edmonton in their last game.
The Leafs have won two in a row against the Canadiens, and there’s an interesting trend in place with Toronto-Montreal games. The Canadiens enjoyed a four-game run against Toronto before this recent Leafs surge. Prior to that, Toronto won seven in a row. That was on the heels of a 14-game Montreal win streak against the Buds.
The puck drops at 7 PM EST. The game is being carried by the NHL Network.
Pick: Toronto Maple Leafs (-125)

Putting The W In Winnipeg
Certainly, the Senators are finding it to be a struggle no matter who they face. They’ve lost four games in a row overall.
Ottawa’s latest defeat, a 5-1 loss Thursday at Winnipeg, was the Sens’ sixth successive setback against the Jets. Five of those six wins Jets wins were multi-goal verdicts. Ottawa is 1-5 in its last six at Winnipeg.

Senators goalie Matt Murray left Thursday’s game after being involved in a third-period collision. He’s out Saturday with an upper-body injury.
Jets center Pierre-Luc Dubois left Friday’s practice. The team would only say that something tightened. Dubois is listed as probable for Saturday’s game.
The 3 PM EST start is being broadcast by the NHL Network.
Pick: Winnipeg Jets -1.5 (+110)
