Pick 1: Schalke vs Wolfsburg

Schalke have yet to secure a victory through seven appearances this term, but they will be feeling a sense of confidence when they host Wolfsburg this Saturday. Manuel Baum’s side has won nine of their last 11 matches against the Wolves on home soil. But, their last meeting with Oliver Glasner’s men resulted in a daunting 4-1 defeat at Veltins-Arena back in June.

It’s been a disappointing start to the season for Schalke, to say the least. They’ve conceded a league-worst 22 goals while scoring just five times. They currently sit in 17th place with three points. Last time out, Schalke took away a point in a 2-2 draw with Mainz, who are in dead last.

History has certainly not been on Wolfsburg’s side when visiting their Matchday 8 counterparts. Glasner’s men have won just three times in their last 24 appearances when visiting Schalke, a trend they will be looking to turn around.

Despite scoring just seven goals this term, Wolfsburg sits in sixth place. They’ve won just twice, but have grabbed a point in each of their other five games. However, their backline has been phenomenal this year, conceding just five goals, which is second-best in Germany behind just Leipzig, who have let in just four.

The visitors have yet to win away from Volkswagen Arena this season, tying all three matches. Given Schalke’s track record against Wolfsburg, I believe a draw is a safe bet here.

Pick: Draw (+250)

Pick 2: Hoffenheim vs Stuttgart

Hoffenheim will have their hands full this Saturday as they welcome Stuttgart to Rhein-Neckar Arena. For the hosts, they will be looking to break out of a dismal spell of form. Die Kraichgauer are 0-1-4 in their last five games, losing to Wolfsburg two weeks ago on the road. However, they did hand Bayern their only defeat of the season, beating them 4-1 in late September.

Striker Andrej Kramaric hasn’t played since early October after testing positive for coronavirus and suffering an abductor injury. The Croatian, however, has been sorely missed in the final third, having already bagged six goals in just three league appearances this term. He should be back in the squad this weekend though as Hoffenheim desperately searches for a positive result.

Stuttgart has been a pleasant surprise since their promotion, currently in the eighth spot with ten points. They haven’t lost in their last five matches, but four of them were draws. Pellegrino Matarazzo’s men took away a point on Matchday 7 in a 2-2 draw with Frankfurt at home. Austrian striker Sasa Kalajdzic has been their most productive attacker, netting three times and tallying two assists.

Hoffenheim has won five of their last nine fixtures against Stuttgart. On home soil, they’ve been even better against Mattarazzo’s side, going unbeaten in their last four meetings dating back to February of 2014. With the hosts needing three points now more than ever, I believe they’ll come through with a win against Stuttgart.

Pick:  Hoffenheim (+140)

Pick 3: Eintracht Frankfurt vs RB Leipzig

Despite getting off to a slow start this term, Frankfurt will feel very capable of pulling off an upset against a solid Leipzig side on Saturday. Adi Hutter’s squad have won their last two clashes against their Matchday 8 opponents and have never lost to Leipzig on home turf. The Eagles are also unbeaten in their last five league matches at Commerzbank Arena.

Two weeks ago, Eintracht went down 2-0 in the first half to Stuttgart but managed to drag away a point after scoring two goals in the second half in a gritty match on the road.

Leipzig hasn’t suffered at all with the absence of Timo Werner thus far, currently just two points behind table-toppers Bayern in second place. Julien Nagelsmann’s side has been very solid at the back, conceding a Bundesliga-low four goals. On the attack, it’s been Manchester City loanee Angelino who’s added a spark in the final third, scoring three times and collecting two assists from the left-back position.

Yussuf Poulsen and Emil Forsberg have formed a wonderful partnership up top, netting four goals between them. Matchday 7 saw Leipzig bury Freiburg 3-0 at Red Bull Arena. They’ve lost just once this season in a 1-0 defeat to Monchengladbach on Halloween.

Although Frankfurt’s won consecutive games against Leipzig, each side hasn’t won more than two in a row against each other in their history. The hosts have yet to lose at home this term and always put up a respectable fight against Leipzig, so I do believe they’ll both take away a point in this fixture while scoring a goal apiece.

Pick: Draw (+275)
