It’s not often you see a Doosan Bears game with a total south of 9. It’s even less frequent you see that when one of the KBO’s elite pitchers is not on the mound. That’s exactly the case on Thursday however, as the over/under in the Dossan versus Hanwha matchup opened at 8.5.

 KBO Odds: Thursday, October 15th

Odds as of  Oct. 14th at FanDuel.

The defending champs have beaten the Eagles 5-0 and 2-1 so far this week, but in each of those contests they trotted out one of their better arms. That won’t be the case when these two teams clash again on Thursday, at 5:30 am EST.

Bears and Eagles Fly Over

The Bears will give the ball to Hui Kwan Yu, who hasn’t posted a quality start in over two months. I know what you’re thinking and yes, he’s facing the league’s worst offense, but that didn’t help him in their previous matchup.

The last time Yu toed the rubber, he lasted just 3 innings versus Hanwha, allowing four runs and five hits. He’s dropped four straight decisions overall, lasting fewer than 4 innings on three separate occasions.

His fastball velocity rivals that of an eighth-grader, and he’s struck out only 47 batters in over 120 innings. The Eagles offense may be weak, but no one will be surprised if they touch up Yu again.

Hanwha meanwhile, will counter with Min Jae Jang, who’s primarily a reliever. The 30-year-old has a 1-5 record as a starter this season, lasting more than 5 innings just twice.

The Doosan bats have produced 51 runs in their past eight outings, and should feast on a combination of Jang, and an Eagles’ bullpen that has an ERA over 5.00 this month.

Pick: Over 8.5 (-118)

SK and Samsung Stay Low

Eight of the last nine Samsung games have produced a total south of 11 and there’s little reason to believe that won’t be the case again on Thursday. The Lions, who rank third last in scoring, have crossed the plate three or fewer times in eight of their last 10 games, including both contests this week versus SK.

On Wednesday, they squeaked out a 2-1 victory over the visiting Wyverns, but managed just five hits for the second straight game.
Samsung will give the ball to Tae In Won, who’s been pretty sharp lately. The 20-year-old has surrendered two or fewer earned runs in three of his past four starts, and SK is certainly no offensive juggernaut.

The Wyverns rank second last in nearly every offensive category, and average just 4.35 runs per game. They’ll send Jong Hoon Park to the mound, who’s been stellar versus the Lions this season. Park is 2-1 against Samsung, with a 2.87 ERA and 18 strikeouts over 15.2 innings.

Pick: Under 10.5 (-106)
