Rematch of WNBA’s Best
Not only will Sunday’s marquee matchup feature a rematch of the 2020 WNBA Finals, which saw Seattle claim the title behind a 3-0 series sweep of Las Vegas, this will also mark a rematch of the two teams during the regular season as well.
Coming into this showdown, the Storm and Aces have played each other twice this summer, with Sunday’s game marking the third and final time they will play before the playoffs. On May 15, Seattle took down Las Vegas 97-83 in the first meeting in Seattle, with the Aces bouncing back to even the season series on May 18 with a 96-80 victory once again in Seattle.
The first two games of this season series certainly didn’t disappoint, with each contest featuring back-and-forth games between two of the league’s top teams. With this matchup likely to take place once again in the postseason at some point, expect a very similar game on Sunday in the final battle of the regular season.
Storm Aim to Remain on Top
Seattle comes into the game with a league-best record of 12-3 to sit atop the standings and a game and a half ahead of Las Vegas, with the Storm having won eight of their previous 10 games. The Storm are coming off of a rare loss on June 22 to the Washington Mystics, but they look to get back into the win column once again against Las Vegas.
So far this season, the Storm duo of Breanna Stewart and Jewell Loyd have been outstanding, with Stewart leading the team by averaging 20.9 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.1 steals a game. Loyd hasn’t been far behind, averaging 19.1 points, 4.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
Seattle has managed to stay healthy all season long and have picked up right where it left off in 2020 to remain one of the top teams in the league.

Aces Try to Bounce Back
Although Las Vegas has won eight of its last 10 games, the Aces come into the contest on Sunday having dropped their most recent game to the Minnesota Lynx in overtime.
Las Vegas, featuring one of the top offenses in the WNBA, will try and bounce back by once again leaning heavily on the duo of A’ja Wilson and Liz Cambage. Wilson is averaging 19.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists this season, while Cambage is averaging 15.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 1.4 assists a game.
One key for the Aces is if they will be able to hold the Storm offense in check or at least get some key stops down the stretch to pull out a win. Much like Las Vegas’ offense, Seattle’s offense is just as powerful.
Prediction and Best Bet
The third and final game of the season series between Seattle and Las Vegas will likely be another high scoring showdown that ends up coming down to the wire like the first two games did.
One thing to consider going into this game is just how dominant Seattle has been on the road, holding a perfect 7-0 record in road games. Las Vegas, on the other hand, is equally as stellar at home, going into the game 6-1 at home.
In the early betting odds, the Aces are 2.5-point favorites, which means oddsmakers believe this will be a close game but are giving Las Vegas the edge likely due to playing at home. When it comes to a prediction for the marquee matchup, it’s hard to go against Seattle on the road, given just how dominant the Storm have been lately
- Best Pick: Seattle +2.5 (-110)
