Jokerit Will Continue to Roll Against Sibir

Jokerit has played the fewest games of any team in the West division and will enter this weekend with a solid 8-3-1 record. They’ll be facing a Sibir team that is 5-9-3 on the season and has dropped four straight games.

Jokerit will be coming into this game with plenty of confidence after they took down one of the top dogs, CSKA Moscow, last time out.

Peter Regin netted his first goal of the season, while Nicklas Jensen sayed hot with his eighth and ninth goals of the season to lead his team to a huge 5-2 upset victory.

Novosibirsk simply doesn’t have the defense to stop Jokerit’s dynamic attack. Jordan Schroeder, Brian O’Neill, and Jensen are all close to point-per-game players, while Veli-Matti Savinainen, Eeli Tolvanen, and Iiro Pakarinen can also find the back of the net. This isn’t an ideal matchup for a Sibir defense allowing 3.35 goals per game.

While there’s plenty to like about Jokerit’s offense, it’s their defense that should give you the most confidence. They’re allowing only 1.80 goals per game, primarily due to a strong goaltending tandem of Janis Kalnins and Anders Lindback.

Considering Helsinki was able to hold a very dangerous CKSA offense to just two goals, it’s hard to see Sibir generating much in this one.

Pick: Jokerit (-225)

Salavat and Avangard  Will Fill the Net

Salavat Yulaev Ufa will be looking to get back into the win column on Saturday after dropping its past three games. Avangard is also looking for a big performance after they were shutout 3-0 by Metallurg Magnitogorsk their last time out. Avangard couldn’t get a goal past Vasily Koshechkin, while Salavat Yulaev fell to a Kunlun team that had just one win on the year.

This game has the chance for some offensive fireworks with both teams needing bounce-back victories. There have been several high-scoring games between these two clubs recently, including two 6-3 victories by Salavat Yulaev in 2020.

Both teams are averaging around three goals per game this season and have plenty of offensive weapons. Led by 25-year-old Sergey Tolchinsky, Omsk has five players who have already hit double digits in points.

Salavat boasts an even more impressive offensive group led by Teemu Hartikainen and Dmitri Kugryshev. They have five players averaging at least a point-per-game through 16 games.

The only concern for an over bet is how good Avangard’s goaltending tandem of Igor Bobkov and Emil Garipov has been. Salavat has proven in the past, though, that they are capable of exploiting Omsk’s defense.

alavat is struggling to find consistency in goal, so even if Avangard’s strong goaltending continues, the Omsk offense could come close to hitting the total on their own.

Pick: Over 5 (-127)
