Police Lt. Jesse Roybal said it was unclear if anyone was injured in the 5 am incident at the Strip and East Harmon Avenue. Multiple shots were fired, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Subjects have been detained, and no victims have been located as of now,” Roybal told the newspaper early Friday. The lieutenant did not provide the suspects’ names.

Just after the shooting, at least a dozen police cruisers were seen in the Travelodge parking lot in the 3700 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South, the newspaper reported.

On Friday at 6:12 am, an unknown person dropped a gunshot victim off at University Medical Center in Las Vegas. The victim died at the hospital. Her name was not immediately released.

There was no indication whether the shooting death was related to the gunshots about an hour earlier at the Strip and Harmon.

“We are still trying to find out where the shooting occurred,” Lt. Ray Spencer told the newspaper in a text.

Stabbing at Cosmopolitan

The gunfire early Friday on the Strip occurred not far from from a violent incident one day earlier.

A fight on Thursday involving several males at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas left one man hospitalized with stab wounds.

The Cosmopolitan is a luxury resort on the west side of the Strip,  across the resort corridor from where multiple gunshot were fired on Friday.

Lt. Noe Esparza told the newspaper the victim in the 5 am stabbing on Thursday received wounds that were not life- threatening.

“There was an altercation between a group of males that led to one male sustaining a couple of lacerations to his upper body shoulder area and arm area,” Esparza said.

Police have not indicated whether any suspects have been identified or arrested in the stabbing. The victim’s name was not released.

The Cosmopolitan and Travelodge are outside city limits, but the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, known locally as Metro, patrols the city and county.

Violence on the Strip

The stabbing and gunfire late this week are the latest among several violent incidents since the beginning of the year on or near the Strip.

In January, one man was shot outside the Venetian Resort on the east side of the Strip. The Venetian is located where the now-demolished Sands hotel-casino once stood.

The gunman and a second man were taken into custody. The victim was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Police discovered a man in the Rio parking lot, suffering from several gunshot wounds. The victim was hospitalized in critical condition, but survived multiple surgeries. One man was arrested in the incident.

In another recent violent incident, a 57-year-old retired Connecticut State Police Trooper died after a man punched him near the Strip and Flamingo Road in late February. A suspect was arrested a short time later.
