Betfair Ambassador Ryan Moore has three rides on the first day of Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire meeting, and here he discusses the chances of each…
“The handicapper has only eased her 1lb but she likes 6f and decent ground, and she is fairly treated on her form earlier in the season.”

Well-bred colt can go a bit
13:15 – Vitruve
The second and third in Maximal’s Sandown win obviously set the form standard here and are the obvious ones to beat, but there are some well bred newcomers in here too. Hopefully, my colt can go a bit and he is a Toronado colt out of the very smart Strawberrydaiquiri, a mare I rode to win in a Group 2 many moons ago and who loved quick ground. Let’s hope he has some of their ability.
Not an obvious chance but race has cut up a bit
13:50 – Mark Of The Man
He went up 8lb for winning well at Goodwood and has run well in defeat since, including when third at Doncaster last time. He has gone up another 2lb, so he doesn’t have an obvious chance at the weights, but hopefully he is still progressing and of course he has decent claims in a race that has cut up.
Conditions fine and fairly treated on earlier form
14:25 – Caspian Queen
She was a little bit disappointing when I rode her at Goodwood in July and she probably ran to a similar level in Listed company at Pontefract last time. The handicapper has only eased her 1lb but she likes 6f and decent ground, and she is fairly treated on her form earlier in the season.
