Timeform provide the three best bets at Bellewstown on Wednesday…
Shannon Valley – 17:15 Bellewstown
Shannon Valley took a big step forward on her handicap debut at Sligo last time, finishing third, beaten only a length and a half despite not getting the clearest of runs. She was short of room early in the straight, and then again near the finish, and she would have finished closer with better luck. That was a much more encouraging effort, however, and she can make amends off the same mark.
Polly Douglas – 17:45 Bellewstown
Polly Douglas ran well in defeat at the Curragh last time, beaten only a neck in third in a 17-runner handicap. That was a creditable performance from Polly Douglas, who stuck to her task well under pressure, and she remains fairly treated off just a 1 lb higher mark. This is a slightly weaker grade of handicap and she should give another good account.
Pugin – 18:15 Bellewstown
The Joseph O’Brien-trained Pugin is progressing gradually and produced his best effort yet when getting off the mark at Gowran Park last month. The drop in trip to nine and a half furlongs didn’t look like it would play to his strengths, but he was sensibly allowed to stride on and his stamina really came into play at the end, finding plenty when tackled. He looks sure to benefit from this step up in trip and can make a successful handicap debut.
