Timeform provide the three best bets at Doncaster on Saturday.
“…his effort marked up with that in mind…”
Timeform on Dick Datchery
Skyrunner – 18:35 Doncaster
Skyrunner cost 190,000 guineas as a yearling and showed plenty to work on when finishing third in a heavy-ground minor event at Newbury last season. He built on that promise to get off the mark after six months off over seven furlongs at this course three weeks ago, staying on to lead in the final 50 yards despite being carried left. There should be more to come from him and he shouldn’t be bothered by the drop back in trip.
Isla Kai – 19:35 Doncaster
Isla Kai didn’t show much on debut at this course last season, but stepped up considerably for that experience when convincingly winning at Redcar on his next start. He beat a potentially smart type who won on his next start that day and Isla Kai probably isn’t best judged on his reappearance at Newcastle last month where he was given a considerate ride. That looked an interesting race, and judged on Isla Kai’s form from last year, and opening mark of 76 could underestimate him.
Dick Datchery – 20:05 Doncaster
Dick Datchery has been a bit in and out so far this season, but he caught the eye on his latest start at Thirsk, doing well to finish as close as he did under the circumstances. He was ridden much more patiently than on his previous start, seeming uncomfortable with the pace early in the race, but making good progress from halfway and doing much the best of those held up. Dick Datchery can have his effort marked up with that in mind and he remains on his last winning mark.
