“…her effort last time suggests she will improve for it…”
Timeform on Morrooj
Morrooj – 19:00 Newmarket
Morrooj showed ability in a couple of starts on the all-weather earlier this year, but has improved since the resumption of racing and switch to turf, proving better than ever to open her account at Chepstow earlier this month. She did well under the circumstances, too, wearing down a rival that had the run of things against the near-side rail, and was readily on top at the line. This trip should be within reach on pedigree, and her effort last time suggests she will improve for it, so she is fancied to overcome a 7 lb rise in the weights and follow up.
Silver Samurai – 17:55 Newmarket
Silver Samurai made his trip north to Redcar worthwhile when resuming winning ways last month, landing some nice bets in the process, and he is sure to be popular in the betting having been raised just 5 lb in the weights. However, this looks a stronger event, and Silver Samurai will have to improve further to defy this mark. That is entirely possible, but at the likely prices he is passed over.
Man of Promise – 16:50 Newmarket
21% – William Buick’s strike rate at NEWMARKET (JULY)
Man of Promise confirmed the promise of his debut effort after 11 months off at Yarmouth in June, edging out a subsequent winner by a neck. The pair pulled well clear on that occasion, and Man of Promise showed a good attitude to open his account, and is open to further improvement now. He is seemingly a fragile sort given that he hasn’t been seen out again since, but an opening mark of 92 could well underestimate him, and he makes plenty of appeal for top connections.
